PLACEMENT Placement inquiries are often intiated by public schools, pedia-tricians, mental health professionals, community agencies, or by parents directly. Final placement is based on the mutual agreement of the referring school district, parents, and CLC. CLC welcomes school visits by interested parents of special needs students. A great many variables are considered when evaluating a student for placement, including academic status, behavioral concerns, medical status, space, specialized teacher training and certification, the needs of students already in the classroom, and other factors. All placements are conditional upon successful completion of a 30-day probationary period. CLC has a few openings in grades K-5; please contact Kathleen Hayes, Program Director of the Elementary School, for more information or to set a time for a site visit. There are three openings at the Middle/High School for grades 6-8 and two openings for grades 9-12; please contact Gus Psara, Executive Director, for more information or to set a time for a site visit.
TUITION and PAYMENT FOR SERVICES CLC is a state-certified nonpublic special education school and our rates are established through a collaborative negotiation process which involves all of the local school districts. See these links to the California Department of Education listings for the Elementary School and Middle/High School. For the 2009-10 school year, there has been no increase to our tuition rate of $165 per day; speech/language and occupational therapy services are charged at $93 per hour. In accordance with the requirements of the IDEA that districts must provide a free, appropriate education to all students, in most instances, the home school district of the student pays for tuition, speech/langage, occupational therapy, transportation, or other services established by the IEP. However, CLC cooperates with families and districts which have mediated agreements in place and does share of cost billings as needed. |
